Everyone loves variety, especially when it comes to music. But even if you have a huge music library, eventually you will get tired of all those songs. When that happens, Last.fm is a great alternative source of music, with which you can discover brand new genres and bands to listen to. But unfortunately, Last.fm is only for streaming. So what do you do if you want to download songs and listen to them whenever you want? For that, you need LastSharp.
LastSharp is a simple program that allows you to download any music from Last.fm directly onto your hard drive. This really seems like the perfect application for music lovers. It is incredibly easy to use, and does not even require installation onto your computer. All you need in order to use it is your Last.fm login information. That’s it! Then you just need to search the site for the music you want by using keywords, tags, or even looking for similar artists to previous ones you have listened to.
With its batch downloading functionality, getting music takes almost no time at all. And once you have it, it is easy to also find the album cover, have all the songs automatically normalized with the built-in mp3Gain tool, and even have it immediately begin playing. With its own music player, LastSharp also allows you to listen to tracks via streaming as well, so you can decide whether or not you like it before downloading.
One of the downsides to LastSharp that users have noticed, however, is that the program occasionally displays strange behavior. But many of these glitches are just bugs that hopefully will be worked out in later versions of the program. And regardless, they are never very serious, and can be easily fixed by restarting the program.
Regardless of this, LastSharp is a really great little tool that will open the possibilities to what kinds of music you can find and enjoy.
Note: The default language of LastSharp is German, but you can easily switch it to English by clicking on the “Erweiterte Einstellungen” tab, then on the “Sprache” drop down menu.
