Developed by 343 Industries (a Microsoft affiliate), Halo is a hugely popular first person shooter game.
Players are invited to jump into the world of supersoldier Master Chief John-117 and Cortana (his robotically programmed friend). The general storyline is that long ago humanity was attacked by the Flood (an infestation that other species have been inflicted with before humanity). Fellow sufferers, the Forerunners, have designed a weapon they believe can combat the Flood, Halos. The mission is to find and activate this weapon, and save humanity as a result. The scientific fiction story has been labelled entertaining as a backdrop to the hugely action packed triumph for the developers.
Players will love the familiar authenticity that has come from developers staying true to the earlier games in the series, and also the multiplayer action. The multiplayer action in particular has become a huge draw of the Halo series, and involves jumping online to encounter other players and battle things out to the death (often repeatedly).
Although it has remained true to the original series, this latest addition has also improved the graphics and gameplay by working with more up to date platforms. The game is available on a variety of platforms: PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and even for iPhone, and has been hailed as a must have for several first person shooter fans.
It has been widely well received, and indeed for many gamers has become the standard for first person shooter games. The sci-fi plot, interesting characters, and chaotic but skill building multiplayer mode have all come together to create a true first person experience.
