Use Gtalk from the sidebar in Firefox
Google’s instant messaging client (gTalk) has been united with Firefox in this handy Firefox extension, gTalk Sidebar.
The program allows users to simply use gTalk in the sidebar of their Firefox browser. This works for initiating conversations and for viewing contact lists, and works easily off of the tabbed chat system. Users can even make use of emoticons, just as in normal instant messaging mode.
It can also be altered into a pop up messenger, instead of a sidebar messenger, depending on user preference. Though this has to be done before log in is complete or it won’t work until the program is restarted.
gTalk Sidebar is a great program for any one looking to unite gTalk and Firefox.
- Emoticons enabled
- Pop out preferences must be selected before starting a conversation or a restart is required
- Pops out to sign in to gTalk regardless of user preference
