Despite its intimidating name, the Executor is a really great and useful application. It allows users to open files and launch almost any program or website just by typing the associated keyword you had previously assigned to it. Because although your computer’s Start menu is supposed to give you quick access to everything you need, it really can be quite an annoying mess. If this is the case for you, then Executor is what you need.

After you download and complete the configuration settings by deciding on what hotkeys to assign each of your applications and files, Executor is incredibly easy to use. It pops open a small search dialog box when you hit WIN+Z, which gives you instant search results. Executor even has auto-complete capabilities, so many times only the first few letters are needed.

As a default during the installation process, Executor will automatically index all of your computer’s Desktop and Start Menu folders, but you can easily add more files to the list, or even take some out that you never use. Although you can make your own keywords, the program comes with a list of built-in commands that will allow you to efficiently access many of your operating system’s functions like Windows features, documents, and even running web programs.

One of the best things about Executor, however, is that it offers a very extensive personal configuration menu that includes almost every single detail of the program. The only downside that users have noted is that although it offers support for skins, the skins that are available are very dark and hard to read on occasion. But you do have the option to create your own color combination, so it is easy to get around the pre-set skins if you do not like them.

So if you are looking for a way to make it easier to find programs and other files in your operating system, you will definitely want to check out Executor.
